Written by Brendan Ihmig

In years past, photography was an expensive and rather exclusive hobby, but with the introduction of digital cameras and their popularity since the the mid 2000s, photography as a hobby has become much more accessable to a far larger audence. This surge in enthusiasim and passion for photography is evidence in the vast scope of reasonably prices qhaulity camera grear, availablity of indepth educational materials and various image sharing platforms that are now available and open to just about anyone.

Crowdfunding and modern photography have a very unique partnership as they share many fundamental elements such as; the understanding of various technology (hardware and software), creativity and the social dynamic. In 2015 there were many projects launched that incorporaded technology, creativity and the social dynamic in such exciting ways for photography enthusiasts. I have selected twelve photography projects which I think were the best of 2015 among the dozens of brilliant ones.
