World of Warcarft: Traveler

Written by Brendan Ihmig

As an avid gamer, owner of an overly excited imagination and a father of a one year old, I sometimes am left pondering on some rather random things.  Here is one such random 'thing'. My mind has often left me wondering when and how I will one day introduce my child (or children) to the wonderful fantasy worlds that I have enjoyed while spending countless hours in games like World of Warcraft and StarCraft. Blizzard Entertainment (developers of video games like Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo) have always been the quintessential creators of epic stories and incredible worlds in my books. From the fantastic Sci-Fi story and setting of StarCraft to the stunning worlds and stories of WoW, Blizzard have always managed to captivate and inspire my imagination and this is what I want to share with my family.

So, you can imagine just how elated I was when Blizzard announce their collaboration with Scholastic (the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books) to bring to life a new book series for children (ages 8-12) based on the World of Warcraft franchise. Titled 'World of Warcraft: Traveler', this will be the perfect way for me to someday introduce my children to Azeroth and for Blizzard, it is a Brilliant way to introduce and usher in a new audience to WoW.

World of Warcraft: Traveler is an epic action-adventure series which features a young cast of Warcraft characters discovering the mysteries and majesty of the world around them. Written by well known comic book author and animator Greg Weisman, the first book (which is scheduled for release in November of 2016) will include full-page illustrations and sketches created by Blizzard artist Samwise Didier. For more details on the story as well as Blizzard's reasoning behind World of Warcraft: Traveler, watch the announcement video below that accompanied the announcement.
